There are people who have NO clue what to do and how to start.
Then there are those who know TOO much and can’t make up their mind what is BEST..
This article is for the folks who know about all kinds of programs and can’t decide which to start with.
First off, I can sympathize. There are so many options, it can be confusing.
What’s best?
Will that work for ME?
That program is only for athletes..
I saw (insert celebrity name here) do this program…
Isn’t that just for men?
Will that make me bulky?
On and on it goes…
It’s no wonder you have a difficult time getting started. There’s SO MUCH information available now.
Back when I started working out there were muscle magazines and the big older dudes at the gym.
Not much info but people still got strong and in great shape.
Just start.
This is the key for you. Stop reading articles in magazines or online. (not this one yet :) )
Get moving.
Do a bodyweight workout at home. Go for a brisk walk twice a day.
Also start eating better. This is another article in itself for another time. Just do what you know you should.
Now that you’ve started you need to begin writing down what you’re doing.
Track your progress either with pen/paper (if you’re old-school like me) or with an app on your phone. Whatever you will stick to.
Now you can look and see where you began and where you are now. Progress is a great motivator, especially when you can see it on paper.
Now that you’ve been moving. You’ve started to improve your diet by cutting out the junk (mostly) and you are tracking your results.. it’s time to get serious and start TRAINING — -
Training means you will be working on a long-term program with bigger goals in mind.
The best training programs will include strength training exercises with an emphasis on progressive overload.
Making your body adapt each workout to the stress given to it.
Get started. Don’t overthink. Start making progress. Track your results.
Now you are ready for a long-term program. If you don’t know which program is best for you- find one that emphasizes strength training and progressive overload.
