Push to the Edge
Consistency is key, they say..
Just show up.
Every workout counts.
Better than nothing.
Stack enough decent training sessions on top of each other and you’ll find some results..
While this line of thinking may have some validity. It’s not the entire story.
Why?
Because sometimes you have to go HARD as you can.
You crave that extra level. That intensity. That push to the edge.
To feel the exhiliration of going where you’ve never gone before. To see what you are truly made of.
I love the Dan John Easy Strength program. Grease the groove. It’s all powerful consistent-style of training. BUT, there comes a time when you need to test the bounds of what’s possible.
That doesn’t mean you go for 1 rep maxes. Or you chase failure on every set you do. Simply put, every once in awhile you get that strong urge to PUSH. And see where you stand.
It could mean you go for 100 reps. Or you do drop sets until your body shakes. Or you do an extra 3 rounds of sled dragging when you thought for sure that you were already finished..
There’s a fine line between getting stronger and testing strength and exhibiting strength.
But like many things in life, the lines get blurred. There’s nuance. A lot of gray area. Only you know when you need a good test of will and might.
Onwards.
