Tomorrow never comes
He showed up after months of procrastination.
We went back and forth by email, he was ready. Or he tried to convince himself he was. But maybe a part of him really knew what he wanted but there were factors holding him back.
Either way, the inner voice kept whispering.. beckoning.. it is time.. quit playing around.. get after it.. NOW
Finally, that voice became so loud he had no choice but to show up.
After that, it almost seemed easy.
Granted there would be hard training, pushing through discomfort, showing up when tired, bored, hungry, sore and wanting to do anything else but force the body to adapt to new demands..
But he did it..
And once you get past that initial wall, you learn something. That all the challenges you face are more in your mind than they are in reality.
But the mind is reality… isn’t it?
That’s another topic for another day.
For this message, the mind is not your friend until you can see it with clarity. Almost from a distance. As if you were watching ducks float down a creek. Just watching. No big deal. Nothing to worry about. Not trying to change their course or block them or fight them off..
When your mind gets you to procrastinate, you feel powerless. And it becomes a never-ending cycle of trying to fight it, looking for tricks and tips to sneak around it.. and falling back on your face in shame and anger when you can’t overcome it.
But there is a way.
Life being what it is, no one can tell you “just do this” and you will “get past it”.
It just doesn’t work that way.
Sure, you could do what some hardcore coach tells you- just man up! Find your balls! Get some discipline! But I’m sure you’ve heard that already and maybe even tried to implement those ideas.. how did that go?
Right.
But this client of mine finally showed up. And after that he never stopped. Sure, he had struggles, days he wanted to skip, times he wondered if it would be ok to miss a day.. or a week.. But what got him off the couch in the beginning was still there.. still intact.
That fire, that urge, that compulsion, that obsession.. whatever it may be.. that is your fuel. You can find it. And only YOU can find it. Some people may help you to open doors to see where it may be.. but ultimately it’s on you to find it.
And when you do, that’s when you go ALL-IN and ALL-OUT. Like your life depends on it..
That’s when magic happens.
And you transform into whatever you truly desire to be.
Tomorrow never comes. Only when you find your way in the dark. Only then do you possess something more powerful than any trick, tip or hack you can find anywhere on earth.
